
POTTSTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
DETECTIVE DIVISION
The Detective Division is responsible for handling the follow up investigation of the majority of crimes reported to this department. They also handle major crime scene processing (evidence collection, photography, and fingerprinting). Within the Detective Division there are investigator's additionally assigned to specialized investigations - Arson, Major Crimes, and Juvenile.
The Juvenile Investigators are responsible for following up on crimes involving children and persons under the age of 18 years. One Juvenile investigator from this Division is assigned to work in the Pottstown High School as a School Resource Officer (SRO).
The SRO handles incidents which may occur there, as well as the Peer Mediation Program. The Peer Mediation Program allows specially trained students resolve conflicts with other students.
Vice and Narcotics Investigations are handled by the Community Response Unit (CRU).
