Pottstown Police Department Chief of Police Mark D. Flanders is pleased to announce the arrest of JUSTIN STEWART after PPD Officer Chad Hart, who was observing traffic in the area of High and Manatawny Sts. last Wednesday evening(10/12/2005), heard tires squeal and a collision on the parking lot at the Days Inn (1 High St.). Off. Hart subsequently observed STEWART drive off of the lot and then turn onto Manatawny St.
Off. Hart attempted to stop STEWART but he refused, traveling north on Manatawny St. STEWART made an abrupt turn onto Third St. and struck a parked car. He got out of the car and crouched at the drivers side, then began walking toward the Off. Hart. STEWART was taken into custody at which time it was discovered that he had attempted to conceal plastic bags containing approximately two (2) ounces of suspected cocaine while he was crouching next to his vehicle. STUART was charged with Drug Act and Motor Vehicle Code violations.
Chief Flanders commended Officer Hart for his actions and indicated that "this arrest is another example of the professionalism and quality of work being performed by the members of this Department."
