POTTSTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT
PRESS RELEASE - Monday, October 17, 2005
1 of 4 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Pottstown Police Department Chief of Police Mark D. Flanders and Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce L. Castor, Jr. are pleased to announce the arrests of three (3) subjects after officers from the Pottstown Police Department, members of the Montgomery County District Attorney's Drug Task Force, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET), conducted surveillance and a search of the premises at 206 Manatawny St. (Apartment C-2) last Tuesday (10/11/2005) evening. These arrests and seizures were made as part of an ongoing High-Visibility Joint Drug Interdiction Initiative in the Borough.
Acting on information developed during previous drug interdiction activities, police made "controlled buys" of suspected crack cocaine from ANDRE COLLIER (information to follow). After maintaining surveillance on COLLIER, police went to the 206 Manatawny St. address where the resident, SARAH SWANSON (information to follow) gave police permission to search the apartment. As a result of the search approximately $100 in U.S. currency, approximately 1/8th ounce of suspected cocaine, and drug related paraphernalia were seized. COLLIER and SWANSON were arrested and charged with Drug Act violations. Additionally, a 17 year-old juvenile male was taken into custody after it was determined that he was wanted in Philadelphia for shooting another person.
Thanking District Attorney Bruce L. Castor, Jr. for his continued support, Chief Flanders states that, "These arrests are part of phase 2 of our high-visibility activities." Flanders indicates that, "Based on information received from informants, from intelligence that officers have been gathering during other high-visibility activities - both on the street and from air surveillance - and along with good police work, we are now targeting locations where drugs are being processed and stored for street sales along with persons identified as drug dealers." Flanders promises that, "There are more searches and arrests to come as we continue to push forward with this initiative."
