POTTSTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT

PRESS RELEASE - Monday, August 8, 2005

Pottstown Police Department Chief of Police Mark D. Flanders and Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce L. Castor, Jr. are pleased to announce the arrests of four (4) subjects for the distribution of cocaine as the ongoing initiative to identify, arrest, and prosecute drug traffickers in Pottstown continues.

On Friday (08/05/2005) evening officers from the Pottstown Police Department, members of the Montgomery County District Attorney's Drug Task Force, and the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) executed search warrants at two Borough Locations.

The first search was conducted at T-2 Ryan St. where officers found and seized numerous bags of cocaine packaged for street sales, a small amount of marihuana, and approximately $155 in US Currency.  As a result of this seizure, police arrested the resident; TAMARA ELLIOTT (See below for information).

The second search was conducted at 320 Lincoln Ave. where officers found and seized approximately 1/8 ounce of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and approximately $285 in US Currency.  As a result of this seizure, police arrested the residents; LAMONT BAGBY, and HOPE TROTT (See below for information).

BAGBY was also charged in regard to a drug sale to an undercover operative in June of this year.  At the time of the transaction BAGBY's identity was unknown.  By comparing video surveillance tapes from June after his arrest Friday night, police were able to verify that he was the suspect.

During the same period of time Friday evening, Officers from the Pottstown Police Department, members of the Montgomery County District Attorney's Drug Task Force, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET), and with helicopter surveillance and support provided by the Army National Guard's Counter Drug Initiative again conducted street level interdictions "to identify drug dealers in the Borough, disrupt their activities, and to make arrests in some instances - In others, the arrests were not made but evidence was gathered and intelligence was developed for future operations and/or arrests."

As a result police arrested a 16 year old female juvenile after she was found to be in possession of two bags of cocaine.  The same juvenile was also charged with drug sales for a June '05 incident where she sold cocaine to an undercover operative.

Again thanking District Attorney Castor for his continued support ,the Army National Guard for their assistance, and the officers "who are putting their lives on the line to help improve the quality of life in our community" Chief Flanders again reiterated his earlier comments, "This initiative will continue to move forward and as it does, there will be more seizures and more arrests to come."
