Pottstown Police Department Chief of Police Mark D. Flanders and Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce L. Castor, Jr. are pleased to announce the arrest of numerous individuals for drug sales in the Borough over the past few months.

On Tuesday March 21^st KENYATTA ROBINSON was arrested by Pottstown officers and charged with four counts of drug sales (crack cocaine) to undercover police operatives during February and March of this year, at various locations in the Borough.

On Wednesday March 22nd members of the Pottstown Police department, members of the Montgomery County District Attorney's Drug Task Force, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET), and with helicopter surveillance and support provided by the Army National Guard's Counter Drug Initiative conducted a "sweep" at various locations in the Borough. The purpose of the "sweep", a continuation of the Pottstown Police Department's High-Visibility Joint Drug Interdiction Initiative, was to arrest individuals who had been making drug sales to undercover operatives since October 2005. Arrested in the "sweep" were MELVIN MELENDEZ, WILLIE MITCHELL, PETER PETROSKY, KARL REDDICK, and a 17year old Pottstown Juvenile (info to follow).

During the "sweep" officers stopped a vehicle operated by WALTER ANDREWS in the 100 block of North Evans St. As a result of that stop officers seized approximately 1/4 ounce of suspected crack cocaine and more than $550 in U.S. Currency, arresting ANDREWS for possession of a controlled substance.

Today, Thursday March 23^rd, Pottstown officers arrested CAGNEY PHILLIPS on an outstanding warrant for drug sales in February. PHILLIPS had stopped by the Police Station regarding an unrelated incident when he was taken into custody. Also, BRENDA OGELSBY was taken into custody on an outstanding drug sales warrant. At the time of her arrest OGELSBY was found to be in possession of a small amount of crack cocaine. Additionally, today COLIN GLENN was taken into custody on three outstanding drug sales warrants (one of which was for selling a counterfeit controlled substance).

Also today, warrants for drug sales during the same time period were served on JOSE BERRIOS, TYJAE BEVERLY, DELMAR BROOKS, GENE DESHAZOR, and BARRY ROBINSON, at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. These five individuals are currently incarcerated at MCCF for unrelated offenses.

Chief Mark Flanders of the Pottstown Police Department indicates that, "The individuals we are now taking into custody are the ones that we had targeted based on intelligence gathered during previous High-Visibility Joint Drug Interdiction Initiative activities. We have warrants for many more individuals and we will be serving those warrants in due time. We will continue to push forward in ridding our neighborhoods of drug traffickers and improving the quality of life for all of our residents" Chief Flanders also points out that, "I am especially pleased with the cooperation and assistance we have been receiving from Borough residents in identifying pockets of criminal activity at various locations throughout the Borough. When people help by being our "eyes and ears" it makes a big difference in our ability to do our job."
