Pottstown Police Department Chief of Police Mark D. Flanders and Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce L. Castor, Jr. are pleased to announce the arrests of two (2) subjects (See Below) last Friday evening (01/13/2006) for the possession of and distribution of drug paraphernalia after the execution of a search warrant at a Pottstown Gas Station/Convenience Store.
Several times over a period of days officers from the Montgomery County Drug Task Force went into the BP station, located at Shoemaker Rd. & Rt. 100, and asked the clerk for "crack pipes". Each time the clerk produced glass tubes, commonly use to smoke crack cocaine, from a storage area behind the counter and sold the tubes to the undercover officers..
As a result of those undercover purchases, a search warrant was obtained and served last Friday evening. As a result of that search more than $15,000 worth of drug paraphernalia was seized; bongs, pipes, rolling papers, Ephedrine and batteries (used together in the production of methamphetamine), digital scales, and other items. Additionally, more than $8,000 in US Currency was seized.
Pottstown Police Chief Mark Flanders points out that, "There are legitimate purposes for all of the seized items. However, when a store owner or clerk knowingly sells these items for the purpose of ingesting or the distribution of controlled substances, their purpose is no longer legitimate. We will continue to target the drug issue form all angles; The manufacturers, the distributors, the dealers, the buyers, and the individuals who aid them by providing the locations or tools for the manufacture, distribution, or ingestion of controlled substances." Flanders additionally commented, "As this investigation proceeds, there will be more arrests to come."
ARRESTED:
BHAVIK DEVENDRA SHAH (21 yoa) - South Whitehall, PA
SURAJ RAOJI VOSHI (34 yoa) - Orefirld, PA
Both individuals were charged with violations of The Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act (#64): Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Sale of Drug Paraphernalia. Both were remanded to the Montgomery County Prison in lieu of $20,000 cash bail.
