Pottstown Police Department Chief of Police Mark D. Flanders and Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce L. Castor, Jr. are pleased to announce the January 9th arrest of KEVIN GASKINS (information to follow) for violations of the Drug Act and carrying a concealed weapon.
Around 9:30 PM officers from the Pottstown Police Department, members of the Montgomery County District Attorney's Drug Task Force, and the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET), who were conducting a High-Visibility Joint Drug Interdiction Initiative operation observed GASKINS acting suspiciously in the area of 110 King St. After approaching GASKINS officers retrieved a concealed semi-automatic .40 caliber pistol from the waistband of his pants along with several bags of suspected crack cocaine and an undetermined amount of US currency.
Further investigation revealed that the pistol was stolen during a residential robbery in Philadelphia in the spring 2001. It is not known if GASKINS is considered a suspect in the Philadelphia incident.
Based on the information developed during the arrest of GASKINS, police obtained a search warrant for his apartment at 262 King St. Officers executed the search warrant at around 11:45 PM and seized numerous bags of suspected crack cocaine, more than $1,000 in US currency, drug paraphernalia,drug packaging materials, and numerous related items.
