PPD PATROL OFFICERS BEGIN NEW WORK SCHEDULE
On January 1st members of the Pottstown Police Department Patrol Division migrated to a new 12-hour shift schedule. This schedule will run as a trial in 2006 and if it works as anticipated, it will become the standard schedule for Pottstown Patrol Officers in the years to come.
Pottstown Captain Allan Ewing points out that, "This change is a win-win proposition for the community and for the officers. Because of the schedule change, there will be more officers available for patrol duty every day of the week, putting more officers on the street. From the officers perspective, this change provides them with the opportunity to have every other weekend off, to spend time with their families." Under the former 8-hour schedule, Pottstown Patrol Officers had every sixth weekend off.
