POTTSTOWN K9 TEAMS PARTICIPATE IN 2005 PA K9 TRIALS

On September 10th and 11th the Pennsylvania Police Work Dog Association and North American Police Work Dog Association hosted the 2004 K9 Triathlon at Castle's K9, Mechanicsburg, Pa.

The K9 Triathlon was a four mile course which included obstacles that the K9 and handler had to overcome.  Obstacles included four water crossings, passing through "Hell's Tunnel" against the flow of water, shooting for accuracy, carrying your K9 partner and a body drag. The Triathlon course ended with the K9 apprehending a "bad guy".

There were K9 teams from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia and Maryland entered in the event.  Two of the Pennsylvania teams were none other than Pottstown P. D. Corporal "Mick" Markovich and his partner K9 Marco along with Pottstown P. D. Officer Michael Long and his partner K9 Azstor.

Off. Long and Azstor took 7th place in the Overall category while Cpl. Markovich and Marco placed 5th.  Both Pottstown P. D. teams were entered in the team category and they took 2nd place for the second year in a row!

Our congratulations to Mick & Marco, Mike & Azstor!

POTTSTOWN BOROUGH WEB SITE TAKES ON NEW LOOK

The Borough of Pottstown has been in the process of developing "Version 2" of it's website for some time.  It was anticipated that completion of "Version 2" would take place at the end of 2005 and the presentation of the new version on Jan 1, 2006.

Pottstown Assistant Borough Manager Ray Lopez, happily announcing that "Version 2" was put online last week offered, "Thanks to the cooperation and coordination of many individuals directly associated with the Borough and those members of Boards, Committees and Authorities who were content contributors and with the professional assistance of Dallas Data Systems, Inc., we now have a new look and a much more comprehensive website incorporating better navigational tools and a significantly greater amount of information in the site."  Lopez also offered a thanks to Dallas Data Systems and the Montgomery County Community College's website development staff for their assistance and support.

In a recent release, Lopez stated that, "It is our hope that our citizens will take advantage of the information that is presented on the site and have confidence that this site will remain supported and kept current.  It is the Committee's vision that the site will be used as a communication tool providing the "What's Happening in Pottstown" and also as an Emergency Management tool providing "Advisories of Emergency Incidents" that impact the community in a "Real Time" fashion."

Please visit the Borough's site today and visit it often, so you can partake of this living world wide web experience.
