NEW PPD OFFICER

Pottstown Police Department welcomes it's newest officer in January.  On Monday January 3rd, Officer Jason Sedgwick will begin his career as a Pottstown Police Officer.  Officer Sedgwick, a 26 year old resident of Allentown, graduated from Parkland H. S. in 1996 and from the Allentown Business School with an Associates degree in 2003.

Officer Sedgwick was hired to replace PPD Corporal Kevin Keifrider, who retired last September.  Officer Sedgwick is slated to "hit" the streets in late July, after attending the Montgomery County Municipal Police Officers' Training Academy.

With the hiring of Officer Sedgwick, the 2004 Pottstown Civil Service Commission's Eligibility List will be exhausted.  The Commission is currently in the testing process for the creation of a new eligibility list.  Once the list is established, PPD will be hiring two new officers to increase our total officer compliment to forty-one.  With the hiring of these two new officers, a four year plan to increase Pottstown Police Department staffing to a compliment of forty-seven officers will begin.

Ms. Hafer, a resident of Douglassville, comes to us with a great deal of records and organizational experience after spending several years in the Reading Police Department Records Division and as a stay-at-home mom.
